Corfu and Kefalonia may get all the column inches, not to mention blockbuster novels, but those in the know will point you to Paxos for a truly serene Greek island experience. Until 2010 Planos Holidays was owned by Gerry Copsey, MD of Just Grenada. Presumably frustrated at his inability to sell dual-centre holidays to the two islands, he passed control to his friend Nick Harvey, who has been a visitor to Paxos since 1982.

Expect hands-on service (Nick will likely as not answer the phone) both in the UK and on the ground, where you'll be looked after by Pano Aronis and his team. If you want to stay at a swanky boutique hotel, head to Santorini – Planos is all about unpretentious family owned properties.
